Europaplatz Königsbrunn

The ensemble on Europaplatz undertakes a subtle transformation of this important urban space in the centre of Königsbrunn. Its granularity blends naturally into the urban fabric, while its precise positioning creates new qualities for the residents. The free-standing pavilion forms the prelude to the ensemble on the boulevard, encloses Europlatz to the north and is used exclusively for commercial purposes. The Stadt-Garten-Haus forms the backbone of the square on the east side and combines commercial space with differentiated forms of housing for different target groups and a mixed mix of residents. This hybrid building combines both commercial uses and flats. It is characterised by a layering that ranges from a lively urban to a green environment.

The Mobility Hub is designed to respond flexibly to future developments and all above-ground parking spaces can be converted into commercial units in phases. The new building consists of two parallel structures that follow the contours of the site, are slightly offset in height and enclose a covered atrium. Initially, the hub consists of an underground parking garage, three above-ground parking levels and two residential floors, which crown the building as setbacks. In a second phase, the top parking level with a floor height of 3m can be converted into a commercial floor with flexible-sized units. In a third phase, the intermediate ceiling of the first two parking levels can be removed to create 4.50m-high commercial space.
