Exhibition Annemirl Bauer
The complexity of Annemirl Bauer’s work is evident, among other things, in her subjects—her critical reflection on the realities of her life as a person, a friend, a mother, a woman, and a dissident in the GDR. However, the artist also invites viewers to explore her work spatially, as she has painted and drawn on paper, canvas, wooden boards, and objects such as cabinets, toilet seats, doors, and walls. Her artistic practice encompasses both the realities of life and the physical space in which she lives.
For the exhibition design, we are expanding the existing spatial structure of the Museum so that Annemirl Bauer’s works can be hung and placed not only on the existing walls but also throughout the space, on the round and square columns. Using simple structural techniques and eco-friendly materials, the columns are enlarged or shaped into pedestals to support her works. In this way, the architecture makes the artist’s comprehensive and expansive body of work tangible within the Minsk
