Conversion House Heldritt
A simple replacement building from the post-war period was found in a rural area. In intensive cooperation with the client, the needs and potential of the existing building were analyzed and a customized concept was developed, which adapts the simple home to today‘s requirements by means of sensitive interventions.
Without changing the footprint of the building, a new gable roof on the previously flat extension brings out the spatial quality of the existing structure and allows a reconfiguration of the building. The new roof form fits naturally into the village context.
In addition to the existing building, the client has the resource of its own woodland. The wood obtained from it is used for the facade cladding. Thus, the energetic renovation takes shape and the building gets a relationship with the landmarked barn on the same property.
In addition to the living quarters, the conversion was intended to accommodate functions such as a greenhouse, garage, wood storage and terrace. In order to reduce the structural measures on the existing building, a light pergola is created, which at the same time encloses the house and interlocks it with the surrounding garden.
In contrast to the building, the independent garden architecture also allows the constructive use of the self-grown wood with lower static requirements.
